The move to relocate the Lechmere station is a unique partnership between the developer and the MBTA. Jones Lang LaSalle representatives told residents that the MBTA gave them the current Lechmere station at Cambridge Street. The developer gets the old station in exchange for building the new station, the representatives said.
The developer claimed the relocation of the station would help a bid to extend the Green Line into Somerville and Medford.
