We had expected the Green Line to open in December 2021, but in the latest monthly status report, we have new projected dates: The Union Square branch will open April 28, 2021. Some key bridges are closing during construction, and those impacts were made clearer at a July 18 public meeting on the Green Line Extension. Perhaps the most annoying price we'll pay for the Green Line Extension are bridge closures during construction. Shown here is the current schedule, which may change. Dark green means a closed bridge. For most of these closures, that means no cars, no cyclists, no pedestrians.
The State has published new draft maps of the future Community Path that will live alongside the Green Line Extension. The new improved route avoids awkward bridge crossings, which is good news.
