Ellin Reiser, President of STEP: We have pent-up demand for public transportation, and people will switch off buses and get on the Green Line. Somerville has 74,000 people. If we attract 10,000 to 13,000 new riders, that would be tremendous. Economic benefits would be very advantageous, but the air quality issue is huge.
