MBTA publishes 2005-2010 Capital Investment Program – but no Green Line

The Capital Investment Program (CIP) is the MBTA’s rolling 5-year plan of its expenditures. Unfortunately, the new CIP includes no funding for the Green Line extension beyond the study currently underway – not even the $1 million necessary to continue basic preliminary planning. What can you do? Go to a CIP public meeting or follow the link below to send your comments to the MBTA.
FY05 – FY10 Draft Capital Investment Program (CIP)

From the CIP…

Currently, the Authority has not programmed capital funds for the subway expansion program.
Two proposed subway expansion efforts are the extension of the Green Line to Somerville, and the Blue Line/Red Line Connector.
Two anticipated projects have been identified for subway expansion.
Green Line Somerville Extension
Long-range plans include extension of the Green Line northwest from Lechmere Station to the communities of Somerville and Medford. Funding for studies and plans regarding this project are located in the Studies and Planning section of this document.
