Report brings out more politician support for Green Line extension

At a press conference held at Lechmere, MassPIRG announced the findings of its new public transportation report which states that Massachusetts’ public transportation system reduces oil consumption and global warming emissions. Read more about the report.

Green Line workshop maps

The official project website at www.greenlineextension.org now has a presentation with the maps of possible station locations used in the recent workshops (although Union Square maps are mysteriously missing). Transportation Bond Bill (including Green Line) moves out of committee

The following is a press release from the office of Rep. Carl Sciortino…
Rep.Carl Sciortino, D-Medford, today announced that the Committee on Transportation has issued the transportation bond bill out of committee with full funding for the Green Line extension intact.
“The Green line Extension has been talked about for decades, and we are finally seeing real action, said Sciortino. “Today brings us one step closer to efficient, affordable, environmentally sound public transportation in Somerville and Medford, and I am proud to help bring this long overdue project closer to completion.”

Union Square Green Line station: maps and community priorities

Union Square Green Line map
On Tuesday, residents gathered in Union Square for a second community meeting sponsored by STEP and Union Square Main Streets. Everyone discussed maps of potential Green Line routes and station locations as well as the criteria that are important to the community as we decide how the Green Line could best serve the square.
